To design, manufacture and install two cowls per machine/for three machines that/which provided suction to remove the machine swarf, provide protection for the associated pneumatic pipework and reduce the downtime of the machine when changing the polyurethane skirts.
To design the cowls using existing mounting features within the designated space and adapted to meet the individual builds of the machines.
A number of meetings and presentations were held with the customer to design and finalise the product.
To be able to install the cowls across the three machines the individual mechanical and electrical attributes of the machines had to be overcome.
How the Problems Were Solved
The design review highlighted the differences between each machine and changes to the mounting features, pneumatic connections and electrical wiring were incorporated into the assembly stage.
Installation and commissioning programme was successful, leading to the expansion of the project to include a further three machines.
