Bonaprene Products have been supplying the UK Steel Industry with Parts & Services for their mills for over forty years

Bonaprene provide a roller and wheel refurbishment service to the cold mills, pickle and coating lines of steel mills throughout the UK. Bonaprene collect by truck worn polyurethane and rubber covered rollers and wheels direct from the stores and production lines of the customers’ steel mills.  At Bonaprene’s factory in Wrexham the rollers are dismantled and then stripped of their polyurethane or runner coverings. Bonaprene then inspect and if specified non destructive test the rolls and wheels and reports are created and submitted to the customer. The rollers or wheels are then prepared for coving by being shot blasted, degreased and bonded before being covered by polyurethane or rubber. Once the polyurethane or rubber coverings are cured the rolls and wheels are turned and ground to size. Bonaprene will then carry out any necessary re-assembly of shafts, bearings, plumber blocks, end caps etc. Once final inspection and sign off is complete delivery is arranged with the steel mills.

Engineering Plastic Parts 

Bonaprene Products bring their huge experience in engineering plastics to making parts for the cold mills, accumulators, coating lines, pickling plant in the steel industry. Bonaprene work in a wide range of thermoplastic engineering plastics including all the different grades of polyamides (Nylons and filled Nylatron), polyethylene (UHMWPE, HDPE, Regenerated, Ceram), and polypropylene, Acetal, Delrin, PTFE, PEEK and Torlon.

Bonaprene’s comprehensive machine and fabrication shops, using the latest CNC machines coupled with up to date CAD/CAM programmes, allows the manufacture of all the parts required for the efficient maintenance of today’s complex steel making production lines. Employing time served machinists and operating a City & Guilds apprenticeship scheme Bonaprene offers the equipment manufacturer and operator alike the highest levels of quality control and expertise. Polyurethane and Polyurethane Bonded to Steel Parts

Bonaprene design, develop and manufacture complex parts in polyurethane or polyurethane bonded to steel for the handling of steel strip in steel mills. Parts such as crane grabs, turnstile covers, coil protectors, coil support pads, turnstile covers have been developed by Bonaprene in conjunction with the customers’ engineers. These parts have greatly helped the improved handling of and reduced damage to the steel coils at the end of the steel mill production lines.
